Roof shingles are a roof covering consisting of individual overlapping elements. These elements are typically flat, rectangular shapes laid in courses from the bottom edge of the roof up, with each successive course overlapping the joints below.
Roofing tiles can be ceramic (e.g., clay fired at a high temperature) or fabricated from cement concrete. Some of the lighter types use fibers (e.g., cellulose) added for strength. The color of a tile may be dispersed throughout, or it may be applied in the form of a coating. Perhaps the most venerable type of roof tile is the Spanish style red barrel tile made from fired clay. The modern version of this tile is sometimes a cement tile with a suitable coating. In either case, the red color is due to the ubiquitous iron oxide material, hematite.Advantages of tile include fire safety, as they are non-combustible, and durability.

Thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-ply roofing membranes are among the fastest growing commercial roofing products and have gained broad industry acceptance for their many performance and installation advantages. As demand increases for heat-reflective and energy efficient roofing systems, TPO single-ply roofing membranes continue to provide exceptional resistance to ultraviolet, ozone and chemical exposure.
Seamless gutters are rain gutters that are cut from a preformed roll of composite metal. A rain gutter is a narrow trough that is attached to the outer edge of the roof to collect water and redirect it away from the building. Rain gutters are also called eaves troughs or eaves channel guttering.
A downspout, waterspout, downpipe, drain spout, roof drain pipe, or leader, is a pipe for carrying rainwater from a rain gutter. Downspouts are usually vertical and usually extend down to ground level.
Did you know the average roof collects 600 gallons (2,271.2 L) of water for every inch of rainfall? Don't let all that water go to waste! You can get a rainwater collection system and store hundreds of gallons of water to use for your garden or other purposes.
